Traveling abroad will teach you lessons no one else can.

It changes you.

Is Peace, Success?

Achieving Peace, for me is what success looks like.

And to many success can be all sorts of things, but if you don’t have peace none of that matters. Your life will pass before you whether you have money or not. If you have constant conflict without resolution or if you are suffering where is there room for success? Traveling forces one to only have what you can carry in your possession. And when you think about it- we really don’t need much to survive. Traveling will open your eyes to what truly is important in your life. You will be faced with so many decisions that are life altering when you travel, and you will also be faced with things that may not often go your way. In those small moments of peace there is something within you that feels like a breathe of fresh air.

It’s your mind not your environment

Its easy to feel like your environment is the cause of your stress, anxiety depression. But the truth is you could be in Utopia and if you don’t remain grateful for the situations that are in front of you life will always seem dull. The best trick to this is to romanticize your life. You can do this with anything… walking your dogs, reading a book in the evening with a candle, eating popcorn with your hubby on the couch watching a movie, feeding your baby whatever your life looks like.. its all mental. Picture your life on the big screen with the music of your choice and like magic you may have a different perspective on what was mundane into something special. You may notice details you never noticed before.

Take care of your health

Health is wealth-I noticed that the first month of travel I didn’t feel myself, the only thing keeping me going was the adrenaline of seeing new places every week. But I started to realize that my body could only hold on from adrenaline for so long until it would catch up to me.

What’s a trip without catching food poisoning at least once. Well that’s what happened while we were in the desert in Morocco, who would’ve thought they don’t handle food properly in the desert? LOL, Should’ve seen that one coming… Ever since that my body was playing constant catch up to get to its healthy state. Truth is if you plan on traveling I would recommend keeping a stash of vitamins, hydration pills, any medicine really. Up your vitamins and excercise!

Travel makes you modest

  • Broadened Perspective: When you travel, you step outside of your familiar surroundings and encounter new cultures, landscapes, and ways of life. This exposure to diversity broadens your perspective and challenges any preconceived notions you might have had. You begin to realize that the world is vast and incredibly diverse.

  • Humility Through Exploration: As you explore different parts of the world, you may feel humbled by the sheer scale and complexity of it all. You see that there are countless places to visit, people to meet, and experiences to have. This realization often leads to a sense of humility as you recognize how small your own corner of the world is in comparison.

  • Cultivation of Gratitude: Travel often makes you appreciate the privileges and comforts of your daily life. Experiencing different lifestyles and sometimes witnessing challenges faced by people in other parts of the world can cultivate gratitude for what you have.

  • Connection with Humanity: Travel can foster a deeper connection with humanity. You meet people from diverse backgrounds, and despite cultural and language differences, you often discover common human values, emotions, and aspirations. This realization can foster empathy and a sense of interconnectedness.

  • Personal Growth: Travel challenges you to adapt to new situations, solve problems, and step out of your comfort zone. It can be a catalyst for personal growth, helping you become more adaptable, open-minded, and self-reliant

Don’t you ever get homesick?

I get this question a lot… And I understand why that question may be a prominent one for many who decide to take the leap of faith to travel and work abroad.Humans have a natural urge to be around their familiar surroundings and support systems. The simplest things gave me comfort on most days… A blanket from home.

But most importantly I had my husband, my best friend by my side and when we are together I feel at home. I know its cheesy, but until you find someone who gives you that feeling there is no other way to put it.

Safety

Traveling to various locations in a short period of time can be exhausting and most days its hard to always have your guard up. Being in a new place its always important to be aware of your surrounds. Simple street smarts. Sometimes your travels can go further than a simple pickpocket. The travelers high is real, the attitude where you believe “oh that wont happen to me” may get you in trouble… It always happens when you least expect it. So even if you just want to kick back and relax my advice is to never be 100% relaxed.

I am truly the paranoid type when I travel: any wrong look/ vibe I get from any individual automatically send me into watching my back, holding my phone tighter, bringing my purse to crossbody mode. And as a woman even more so. Keep an eye on your personal belongings, think twice about what any one may tell you (It may be a scam) , lock up your bags when they are unattended or when your on the move, close your windows and doors locked, especially at night.

You can take my advice as you wish of course you have free will - but of course it never hurts to consider all possibilities.

And of course you can do all this whilst still enjoying yourself… Just be aware of what’s going on around you and not oblivious.
