Baden

Rich history, thermal springs and scenic surroundings

Nestled in the heart of Lower Austria, it’s renowned for its healing thermal waters, which have drawn visitors for centuries.

The town’s historic center is a picturesque blend of Biedermeier architecture, quaint squares, and vibrant gardens. Stroll along the Doblhoff Park, where the fragrant roses and manicured lawns create a serene atmosphere.

Downtown Baden

One of the highlights of Baden is the Römertherme, a Roman bathhouse turned modern thermal spa. Here, you can soak in warm, mineral-rich waters while gazing at ancient Roman ruins—an experience that seamlessly blends the past and present.

Strandbad Baden: A Fantastic place to spend a day laying in the sun, swimming in the various pools or even hopping from the 3M tower, slide and playing volleyball!

Baden is also known for its cultural offerings, with theaters, museums, and galleries to explore. The Beethoven House, where the legendary composer once lived, is a must-visit for music enthusiasts.

Don’t forget to indulge in Austrian cuisine at local restaurants, and savor a slice of Sachertorte with a cup of Viennese coffee at a traditional café. (Melage)

Hotel Sacher

Whether you’re seeking relaxation in thermal baths, cultural immersion, or a taste of Austrian hospitality, Baden offers a delightful escape just a short journey from Vienna.

Salzburg

A true gem nestled in the heart of Austria

Salzburg, often referred to as the “City of Mozart” and the “Rome of the North,” is a true gem nestled in the heart of Austria. This picturesque city is renowned for its rich history, stunning architecture, and its role as the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Historical Charm: The historic center of Salzburg, known as the Altstadt (Old Town), is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its narrow cobblestone streets are lined with beautifully preserved Baroque buildings, making it a delight to explore on foot. The Hohensalzburg Fortress, perched atop a hill, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city.

Musical Legacy: Salzburg’s musical heritage is celebrated throughout the city. You can visit the Mozart Birthplace, a museum dedicated to the life and works of the famous composer. Don’t miss the chance to attend a classical concert in one of the city’s magnificent concert halls or churches.

Sound of Music: The city is also famous for being the filming location of the iconic movie “The Sound of Music.” You can take a tour to visit some of the film locations and sing along to familiar tunes in the stunning Salzburg countryside. I didn’t do this particular tour as I am more of a go go go kind of person and if someone is telling me the significance of a rock from a movie for 30 min I lose interest. HAHA I’d rather admire it for myself and then move on to another site at a faster pace than going with a group. But hey rule of thumb when going anywhere is follow the large groups of Asian tourist, they have traveled long and far and you bet that itinerary is PACKED. ALso you can just listen to some fun facts on their tour as your walking by! (Bridesmaid moment-iykyk) We’re always on a budget!

HohenSalzburg Castle

Cultural Scene: Salzburg boasts a vibrant cultural scene, with theaters, galleries, and festivals year-round. The Salzburg Festival is a world-renowned event, drawing classical music and opera enthusiasts from around the globe.

Culinary Delights: Austrian cuisine shines in Salzburg, with hearty dishes like Wiener Schnitzel and Sachertorte gracing the menus of traditional restaurants. Pair your meal with a glass of Austrian wine or a local beer.

Scenic Beauty: The city is surrounded by stunning natural beauty. The Salzach River, the nearby Bavarian Alps, and the picturesque lakes of the Salzkammergut region provide ample opportunities for outdoor adventures like hiking, skiing, and boating. My personal favorite is Wolfgangsee it is a short drive from downtown Salzburg. You can spend a whole day enjoying the lake and in the summer head to the Sommerrodelbahn for an unforgettable amount of fun.

Salzburg’s unique blend of culture, history, and natural beauty makes it a captivating destination for travelers of all interests. Whether you’re drawn to music, history, or simply the enchanting atmosphere of an Alpine city, Salzburg has something special to offer.
