Lisbon
I had this dream for years that I would wander the world one country at a time experiencing life as it should be. Free from constraint.
My husband and I sold all of our things and left behind the life we once knew. You know what ISNT A sport but feels like it? Packing all your things into a carry on suitcase. We planned on traveling 6 months of the year- how do you fit summer, fall and winter clothes in one suitcase?
Our first stop was Lisbon,Portugal
We stayed in Lisbon in an Airbnb that checked all the boxes for first time visitors. The cherry on top was the young lady at 5pm who thought it her life mission to scream Spice girls songs in the square. In the evenings while the streets where bustling with life she was just karoaking her way through all songs. Our work hours consisted of 5pm-1am and it was entertaining to say the least to watch and listen to her live her best life from my living room table.
To our delight the Pope was in town and the Jesus freaks where out. And in no way do I mean this is a demeaning way - however it was freakish to see millions of young people from all over the world to come see the pope only to get blacked out in the evenings! The most unreligious- religious event if you ask me.
On our last night out Matt and I grabbed a bottle of wine to people watch and a large cockroach ran towards me sitting in the square. It was time for bed LOL
The morning we had to leave my heart ached-as Lisbon had left me feeling like I belonged. (Minus the cockroach)
